Takamure Itsue (高群 逸枝, January 18, 1894 - June 7, 1964) was a Japanese poet, activist-writer, feminist, anarchist, ethnologist and historian. Throughout these transformations, Takamure maintained her feminist position. She was a pioneer in the field of Japanese women's history. Takamure wrote classics such as Bokeisei no kenkyû (1938), Shôseikon no kenkyû (1953), and Josei no rekishi (1954). She emphasized the matrilineal character of ancient Japanese society and advocated a maternalist platform for women’s liberation. She went against the expectations of Japanese women. [1][2]
